Since 1999,
COPED Group (CBC) has been at the forefront of environmental protection and waste management in Rwanda. What began as a mission to address growing waste challenges has evolved into a comprehensive approach that combines integrated waste management, circular economy solutions, and city cleaning initiatives. Over the years, COPED has worked closely with communities, institutions, and local authorities to promote responsible waste practices, transform waste into valuable resources, and create cleaner, healthier urban environments.
Today, as a Community Benefit Company, COPED Group continues to drive sustainable impact by protecting the environment, supporting livelihoods, and contributing to Rwanda’s vision of a greener and more resilient future.

Our Values & Approach
At COPED Group, our work is guided by strong values and a practical approach to environmental protection. Everything we do is designed to create lasting impact for communities, cities, and the environment.
Environmental Responsibility
We are committed to protecting the environment through responsible waste management practices that reduce pollution, preserve natural resources, and promote sustainability.
Community Impact
We believe lasting environmental change starts with people. We work closely with communities, institutions, and partners to build awareness, encourage responsible behavior, and create cleaner living spaces.
Circular Economy Promotion
We see waste as a resource. Through recycling, recovery, and reuse, we transform waste into valuable products that support economic opportunity while reducing landfill pressure.

Gender Equality in Waste Management
Waste management is a critical component of sustainable urban and rural development, yet the sector often overlooks gender dynamics. Men and women experience and contribute to waste management differently due to social roles, cultural norms, and economic opportunities. Ensuring gender equality in waste management is essential not only for fairness but also for efficiency, innovation, and community resilience. Here are our strategies for promoting gender equality:
Capacity Building and Training
Provide women with technical skills and leadership training in waste management.
Awareness and Advocacy
Educate communities on the value of women’s contributions in recycling, composting, and waste innovation.
Equal Employment Opportunities
Ensure hiring, promotion, and remuneration practices in waste management are gender-sensitive.
Gender-Responsive Policy Design
Develop local and national waste management policies that consider the unique roles, responsibilities, and challenges faced by women.
